There are different flooring materials available in the market today. Aside from soft (e.g. carpets) and hard (e.g. ceramic tiles) flooring, one of the most popular materials is wood. Wood flooring is any product manufactured form timber and is specifically intended as structural or aesthetic flooring. Wood’s elasticity and flexibility makes it useful for flooring.

Wood flooring can be either solid or engineered. Solid hardwood floors have a wide variety of dimensions and styles, with the planks made of solid wood and milled from a piece of timber. Solid wood flooring has many limitations due to the natural characteristics of wood. The planks may expand and contract due to moisture and temperature fluctuations.
