Tips to Keep your Mind Sharp

While working on a complex problem, instead of focusing too hard on it I often try to be more relaxed with an open mind. I visualize myself at a favorite spot, listening to my favorite piece of music - a daydream if you like. Studies show that the brain is more receptive in a less focused state. Leave time for your mind to wander. I usually walk to or from work so that I have 30 to 40 minutes at the beginning or end of the day - unplugged. At the very least I can relax, but sometimes my mind wanders to (or around) interesting new ideas. Brush your teeth with your left hand if you're right-handed, read out aloud at breakfast, make lists of things that have something in common.
