There are thousands of people all over the world who are avid stamp collectors, and for many this is not only a hobby but also means of work. There are many people who are interested in collecting stamps just for the sake of it, and there are some for whom the Stamp collection is not only a collection but a part of their life. For those people, they do move the value of stamps, and the pricing of the stamps can be of tremendous significance to them. The rarer the Stamp is, the greater is the significance, and the more is the pricing. If you happen to have a stamp which has been misprinted, or a very telling sign of misprint is given in the Stamp, then the Stamp happens to gain a tremendous value, and as it is a very rare occurrence in the manufacture of stamps, such stamps will be regarded by philatelists as one of the best in the business.

The United States Postal Service was started way back in 1775. Prior to that messages and parcels were hand delivered or by a courier.
