How Search Engines Work and How Do They Rank Your Website?

Search engines are like a surfer browsing through Google maps, and stumbling upon thousands of places in a geographical region. These places might be in the form of webpages or files. Google uses crawlers, the software targeted at finding content from the World Wide Web and then indexing it according to the categorization. Categorization is obviously done based on the content of the website. Internet is similar to a city where the search engine crawlers roam around and visit the places using links as paths to reach different areas.

So the World Wide Web is a collection of billions of web pages, docs, files, videos, and other media on the net. Finding and indexing them is no easy job.
