There are hundreds of castles throughout Scotland. Some old, some new, some splendid elegant structures, some just a ruin.
Here are just a few of the many historic attractions to Scotland.

Eilean Donan. The small island of Eilean Donan in the western
Scottish Highlands is dominated by the picturesque castle which has become one of the most iconic images in Scotland. The castle was first inhabited back in the 6th century, but since that time has been built and re-built over the centuries. The present castle was restored and re-opened to the public in 1932. The castle is may seem very familiar from the many photographs and films it has been used in.

Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh castle is Scotland’s most visited tourist attraction. The castle lies on an ancient volcanic rock which towers 260ft above the city, dominating the skyline and visible from ten miles in any direction. The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are the Scottish Highlands and added on are Orkney, Shetland and Hebrides.
