Octopus is the largest genus of octopuses, comprising more than 100 species. Paul The Octopus is belong to the common Octopus. The common Octopus is the most studied of all octopus species. Its natural range extends from the Mediterranean Sea and the southern coast of England to at least Senegal in Africa. It also occurs off the Azores, Canary Islands, and Cape Verde Islands.

Paul The Octopus is living in a tank at a Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany, who is an animal oracle and now retired predictor of football matches, usually international matches in which Germany was playing. He came to worldwide attention with his 100% accurate predictions in the 2010 World Cup.
