Alcohol from corn happens to be being produced and used with gasoline to power automobiles. This option cannot be considered as a long term answer, however. As population boosts, the corn must be used for food. The same will additionally apply to oil from soybeans. This is not true of alcohol together with oil from waste lumber and sea plants such as kelp and algae. These sources provide no stress on food production capability, so long term production is possible and also desirable. It could actually help replace fossil fuels for portable applications (autos, trucks and aircraft) in the long run. It should be noted, however, that it can't replace fossil fuels with regard to base load operations.
