How to fix Mac OS x 10.8 mail issue? mail slow to close?

Hi all, i am wondering how to fix Mac OS x 10.8 mail issue? Has anyone else noticed that on OS x 10.8 that Mail is slow to close? When I manually exit within the program, or hit Command Q, the program seems to take a long time to actually exit. any tips to fix Mac OS x 10.8 mail issue?
