How to Keep Your Rental Lease Agreement Safe

I have many people ask me how they can keep their lease safe from the landlord from changing the terms of it after they have signed and have come to an agreement. This is something that occurs but not that often. If a landlord is caught for such an act, that landlord can be in a lot of trouble. But if and when it does occur, is does so when the landlord or a rental agent notices that they can take advantage of the tenant due to the tenants lack of awareness. For example the tenant assumes that he is signing a 12-month lease because he assumes that’s the way all leases are done but sometimes the landlord will have 11 months in the lease when you are paying for 12 months.

The solution to this problem is to obtain a signed copy of the original document immediately upon the signing of both parties.
