What Type of Dish Will Work With an FTA Receiver?

In the world of satellite TV, one form of broadcasting known as free-to-air (FTA) means the channels being broadcast are unencrypted and any viewer can pick them up, provided she has the equipment necessary to access the satellite those channels link to. Different types of satellite dishes are available to receive FTA channels, with each type offering different reception capabilities.


C Band
Certain FTA (and other satellite TV) channels broadcast in what is known as the C Band, which contains the downlink frequencies ranging from 3.4 to 4.2 GHz. The C Band was the first frequency band allocated by the FCC for satellite TV transmissions, dreambox dm8000 and the dishes necessary for receiving signals in this band reflected that, being thesubstantially larger (6 feet in diameter) dishes we commonly saw in the early days of satellite TV.
