Tips on How to Fix Firefox When It Stops Working

Sometimes, Firefox just stops working, without even a crash. Reinstalling does not fix it. The repair is to remove Firefox completely. For some reason, the regular uninstall procedure doesn't completely remove all the files (they might assume you'll re-install). Once removed, you can reinstall and it will work correctly. This procedure requires a couple restarts.
When apps stop working, it could be a trojan or virus or other malware messing with your computer. Always run a virus scan before or after installing the software. I use Malware Bytes, Trend, and Kaspersky.
If you are installing firefox using an .msi installer package, you may have to remove some registry entries. Look at the linked article for advice about this. You will need to know how to use the Registry Editor.
