Desktop management is a systems management component, which is the administration of all components of information systems within an organization. Installations, maintenance of hardware and software and spam filter are some of the traditional tasks of desktop management.

The Desktop Management Interface (DMI) generates a framework for the management and monitoring of components in a desktop, laptop or server, making abstraction of these components of the software that manages them. Today it has become the focus for companies that are wishing to accelerate their productivity in a complex IT environment in a cost-effective manner.
